Citizen science in conservation research
This talk will focus on the benefits of citizen science and how to capitalize on opportunities present at the intersection of science and society.
More than just data
Public participation in scientific research not only has the potential to gather much-needed data on a large scale, but also to advance scientific literacy, build relationships and trust between scientists and stakeholders, and grow the capacity for science-informed policy and management.
Speaker
Stacie Beute is the Conservation Alliance Coordinator at the Desert Botanical Garden. The Conservation Alliance is a coalition of scientists, land managers, educators, community liaisons, and conservation-based non-profit organizations committed to focusing collective expertise on the ecological and recreational sustainability of the mountain park preserves in and around the Phoenix metropolitan area.
About Science Cafes
