January 13, 2014
Join us as Darlene Cavalier, founder of SciStarter and a pioneer in the Citizen Science movement, discusses how online communities are expanding the reach and visibility of citizen-based projects.
Many citizens are interested in science, and many scientists need more citizen help. Yet connecting the two groups in a meaningful way can be challenging. A former 76ers cheerleader who happened to be interested in science, Cavalier has combined her infectious enthusiasm, academics, and love of science to make authentic science participation accessible to citizens and the help of citizens available to scientists.
After the lecture and discussion at the Arizona Science Center, we'll continue the conversation at the nearby Rose & Crown pub.
