The CNS-ASU Network

The Role of NSE Scientists and Engineers in CNS-ASU

NSE researchers from all parts of CNS-ASU will participate in at least four kinds of interaction:

1. Collaboration: NSE researchers within the network will collaboratively develop highly imaginative yet plausible scenarios of possible technological trajectories of various areas of research ongoing at Biodesign, the Wisconsin NSEC, and other partner labs.

2. Advising and Consulting: NSE researchers within the network will help present technical background for participatory and outreach activities. They will consult on the technical content relevant to ongoing social science and humanities research.

3. Building Community: NSE researchers will work with CNS-ASU social scientists and humanists to develop undergraduate and graduate courses, advise graduate student theses, and create co-curricular activities that enrich transdisciplinary interaction.

4. Serving as Research Subjects: NSE researchers will reflect upon and document their own understanding of the societal implications of their research and NSE more generally, and of how they make choices of research problems. They may also participate as subjects in oral histories, ethnographies, and other studies of their laboratories by CNS-ASU researchers.
