Jameson M. Wetmore Assistant Professor, Center for Nanotechnology in Society
Jamey Wetmore is an assistant professor at the Consortium for Science, Policy & Outcomes and the School of Human Evolution & Social Change at Arizona State University. He examines the relationship between technology and society in a variety of different ways. He has done work on the history and politics of transportation; the Amish use of technology; and engineering ethics. He is currently finishing three books. The first is an edited volume that introduces technology studies in a way that helps one understand how to affect social and technological change. The second is a reader in engineering ethics that combines micro and macro approaches. And the final book examines the social and political history of automotive restraints in the United States and explores how responsibilities for various aspects of safety were distributed, reconceived, and redistributed over the past forty years. Other projects include helping practicing engineers and scientists reflect on the social implications of their work and exploring the ways in which different religions analyze, evaluate, and speak out about nanotechnology. Jamey received his PhD in Science & Technology Studies from Cornell University in 2003.
