Jason Lappe
Fellow, Center for Nanotechnology in Society

Jason Lappe graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College in May, 2000 and then went to work in Japan as an assistant language teacher with the Japanese Exchange and Teaching program in order to become more familiar with Japanese culture and language which he had also studied as an undergraduate. After two years of living and working in Japan, where he met his Australian wife, Jason returned to the U.S. to begin his Ph.D. studies in biochemistry at Arizona State University. Jason's dissertation research concerns the directed evolution of novel proteins using a light-based cell selection method. He has also developed a keen interest in marine biochemistry, specifically the biological adhesives and venoms of marine inverteb rates as a result of his work with the Green Fluorescent Protein of Aequoria victoria.
